History

Lindisfarne Rowing Club is one of Tasmania’s greatest sporting organisations.  We have a proud history of rowing on the famous River Derwent and beyond.  The club was established in 1905 by a group of enthusiastic business and sports-minded founder members. They shared a vision to enrich the lives and health of the Lindisfarne community via the noble sport of rowing.  It was considered so dignified and gallant, rowing was the only sport deemed suitable for a Sunday by local church groups.  From these idealistic beginnings, the club has inspired and nurtured hundreds of members.
